If you have a toddler at home who loves role-play and cooking, the Smart Sizzlin BBQ Grill, another brilliant creation from LeapFrog, will nourish their imagination, and feed them basic learning skills. What a win-win for parents and children alike. The grill offers three different play modes: learning, cooking and music. In learning mode, the interactive grill recognizes the name and color of the food you place on the skewer, and even the number of pieces you put on. It then encourages turning the skewer by counting the turns up to ten. There are so many layers of learning going on here. When they reach a couple of turns, the grill mentions that the food is smelling good, implying its pretty much ready, and if they keep turning for a long time, it will say that the food is burning. It teaches so many things, without the child even realizing it. There are loads of educational and safety messages. Parents appreciated all the comments, each one pertinent and helpful. The music and cooking modes are fun too, perfect for a pretend barbecue. On the practical side, it is a relatively small-sized unit, making it great for smaller sized homes and apartments. Plus, there is a storage compartment making it easy for children to tidy up when they are done playing. The set includes a load of accessories, everything they need to cook and serve: cooking utensils, a great variety of food, even plates and forks. Parents told us that the $39.99 price tag made this a no-brainer gift for their kids.

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor, and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:

It is non-refundable and has no bearing on the result of the testing. Additionally, we require three samples of the product or access codes for online submissions.

* The Seal’s winners will be announced in a media release distributed to over 4,700 media outlets, including Facebook, Mommy bloggers, TV stations, newspapers, and parenting influencers.
