For many people, across many generations, The Cat In The Hat stands out as Dr. Seuss’ crowning achievement. It is the book that was most requested at bedtime and even had a successful sequel. Now the Cat is Back with a board game that is full of high energy fun. If you can jump, slide, […]

Horton <BR>You To The Rescue! Game

Horton
You To The Rescue! Game

Families really enjoyed playing this game together. Combining physical activity with traditional board game play is always a plus and this game has it in spades. There are many opportunities for players to hop, run and crawl and the props and timer keep everything light and fun. Kids especially got a kick out of seeing

Can-Do Roo

Can-Do Roo

Our preschool testers loved this game right out of the box. Perhaps it was the adorable kangaroo, or maybe it was the game play, either way parents were mighty impressed. They noted the very easy to understand instructions as well as the quality of the manufacturing. We discovered that children enjoyed playing as well as

Totika

Totika

An interesting and fun twist on a familiar game, Totika impressed our testers with its thought provoking use of “self-esteem” cards. The cards give players, particularly young adults, a unique opening for talking and sharing with others. Questions posed include “What makes you special or unique?” or “What is a mistake you have learned from?”

Thomas & Friends Making Tracks

A game and a building activity set, this Making Tracks impressed our testers with its ability to thoroughly engage young children. The process of putting track pieces on the board and then playing gave young children a nice feeling of accomplishment even before the game began. Veteran Thomas fans noted that the track pieces were

Carpet Bocce

Carpet Bocce

Bocce has often been lumped together with shuffleboard, perceived as a game for an older generation. Carpet Bocce takes those perceptions and tosses them out the window. All of the rules of the classic lawn bowling game are here but the game is played inside, on your hands and knees. Imagine grandpa doing that! The

Last Word

Last Word

We have seen many unique word games pass through our testing center doors. Standing out as unique is not an easy task but Last Word did just that. Your brain will be whirring as your mentally thumb through the card catalog of your brain desperately trying to recall historical figures starting with the letter L,

Gallop Home

Gallop Home

You will marvel at the gorgeous game board and beautifully crafted playing pieces, but eventually you will want to play Gallop Home. There are detailed and well written instructions to get you started but it will take some patience, patience that our testers say is well rewarded. The game is very grounded in the equestrian

Dance Dance Revolution DVD Game

Dance Dance Revolution DVD Game

If you have never seen DDR before, either in an arcade or in a home, you have missed out on one of the finest interactive video games ever invented. Now the Revolution has been downsized for younger users as well as for older, shall we say, less agile, dancers. The instructions are easy to understand

Travel Trivia Challenge

Travel Trivia Challenge

When Imagination International elected to use the word “challenge” in the title of their new game they weren’t kidding. You have got to be on your geography game to shine here and you will be put to the test. Families told us that after they got over the initial shock discovering how much they didn’t

HOW IT WORKS

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor, and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:

FALL ’24 June 1st June 24th July 31st August 15th
HOLIDAY ’24 September 1st September 24th October 31st November 15th
