Match of the Penguins

You’ll have to stay sharp if you want to succeed while Matching the Penguins, if not you’ll find yourself out in the cold. Sure, we look at a bunch of penguins and see a bunch of identical looking birds, but the fact is that there are all kinds of differences and as a player its […]

Thing-A-Ma Bots

Thing-A-Ma Bots

Thing-A-Ma Bots is silly fun in a box full of cards, but what impressed our testers with this Gamewright offering is how sneaky it is at strengthening memory skills and celebrating creativity. The rules of the game are easy to understand and given it’s size, it lends itself perfectly to travel. Kids loved making up

Uglydoll Card Game

Uglydoll Card Game

Admittedly the name is not the most attractive we have ever heard. In fact, most parents admitted to being taken aback by the title of this game. However they learned that you can’t judge a game by its box. It wasn’t long before both parents and their children discovered how much fun this Uglydoll game

Quelf

Quelf

A great party game keeps everyone involved, hopefully proves a healthy dose of laughter and is something you want to play again and again. Quelf has all of that in spades. Quelf had our testers in stitches throughout. Lots of the playing cards require acting out, but make no mistake, this isn’t charades. Testers were

Pentago

Pentago

This beautifully designed game is worthy of a prime spot on your coffee table. The picture here does not do it justice, but the real question is, “Is it fun to play?” The answer is Yes. Think of sophisticated, updated version of tic-tac-toe and Connect Four. You’ll need to keep your eyes on the boards

Big Fish Lil Fish

Big Fish Lil Fish

Fast paced, frantic and fun this game is perfect for family game night, just between you and your child as an after homework reward, in the car or plane or just about anywhere. Quick thinking and decision making are essential here, not to mention pretty nimble fingers. The basic premise of the larger fish being

Codebreaker

Codebreaker

A truly ingenious twist to the familiar game of card matching made Codebreaker a real standout in the game category for our testers. Instead of relying solely on your memory to make matches, now you can leave your own personal code on the backs of cards you’ve seen. The trick is to make your mark

The Spiders Web

The Spiders Web

Fun, engaging and full of age appropriate strategy, The Spider’s Web is a nicely done sequel game to Otero’s superb Roundabout. Borrowing some elements from Roundabout and making it easier for younger players, not to mention adding a few playful graphic touches, The Spider’s Web provided our testers with a fun family gaming experience that

Cranium Hullabaloo DVD Game

There was quite a hubbub among our testers about Cranium’s Hullabaloo DVD Game, each of them telling us how much fun they had playing this great new game with their children. There’s loads of laughs, learning and fun but what really struck our testers once again, was how Cranium instills a wonderful sense of whimsy

Family Time Fun Dinner Games

As parents we know that the most reliable family time is the time spent at the dinner table. Many parents want to make it a time for fun, not just eating and rehashing the day’s events. Our testers were intrigued by this set of ideas for transforming dinner time into playtime. Their intrigue turned to

HOW IT WORKS

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor, and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:

FALL ’24 June 1st June 24th July 31st August 15th
HOLIDAY ’24 September 1st September 24th October 31st November 15th
