Townhouse

Townhouse

Since a house is the first thing that many of us built with Lego pieces, it came as no surprise that when testers saw this set that offered the ability to vastly improve on those early structures, they embraced the concept. There are so many ways to design your house with wonderful details and touches. […]

Cotton Clay-tivity

The first question many testers asked about this craft kit was “What is Cotton Clay”? A good question and one we asked ourselves. Simply put it is a very lightweight clay that is very easy to work with. Cotton Clay is much more forgiving and much less messy than traditional clay. Inside the box you

Jewelry Design Studio

It took only one glance at the Jewelry Design Studio’s beautifully designed carrying case, with its myriad tubes of colorful beads, to get our testers excited about making all kinds of baubles and bangles. If you can imagine it you can make it because ALEX has stuffed this kit with so much raw jewelry making

Me by Me

Me by Me

It’s never too young to start compiling your autobiography. Over the years this exercise has taken many names like diary, scrapbook, keepsake box, etc. ALEX has brought it all together in one adorably packaged set. Inside you’ll find activity pages and projects including a growth chart and a handprint making kit complete with air hardening

Crayola Beginnings Creativity Central

A fun first creativity center for babies and toddlers this Crayola toy brings artistic expression to a new generation. One side, which features a water pen drawing tool drew very high marks, in part for the magic of being able to paint with water and for its reusable quality. The touch board on the other

Test Tube Aliens

Test Tube Aliens

There was no denying the fact that this was clearly the most unusual and intriguing product in our testing centers this summer. Without giving away the entire premise we can tell you that together with your alien, his test tube, some water and your computer, your child will learn their alien’s particular needs and requirements

Curious DragonBonz

Curious DragonBonz

Curious Toys elected not to include a guidebook of designs that you can make with your DragonBonz because that’s not what these Bonz are all about. Curious wants you to let your imagination take over and, freed from any illustrated constraints, let your creativity guide you as you construct creatures that you can really call

Pirates of the Caribbean - The Empress

Is there is a hotter anti-hero than Jack Sparrow? The answer in a word is: No. Given the roaring success of the movie’s Summer 2007 release it was no surprise then that this building play set was met with such great enthusiasm by our young testers. Eager to recreate The Empress and role play as

Grow-A-Pet

Grow-A-Pet

You can be sure that the Chia Pet comparisons were running rampant in our testing centers when testers laid eyes on the Grow-A-Pet. We understood the similarities and were anxious to hear what testers thought when they got them home. The result? These funny looking, hair/grass growing creatures really sprout hair, boy do they ever.

Kapla Toys

Kapla Toys

Let your mind take flight and then let the simple genius of the Kapla building system take you wherever you want to go. That was the sentiment in our testing center’s as parents and children discovered the wonderfully retro feel of Kapla’s wooden building set. Children started cautiously at first, but with some encouragement and

HOW IT WORKS

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor, and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:
