Little Pocket

Little Pocket

Here’s one of those great inventions that you wish you had thought of. If you have ever wheeled a fidgety child through the supermarket in the shopping cart seat you’ll appreciate this immediately. Simply attach the velcro straps to the handle, load it up with your snack of choice (not whatever your child can get […]

Dread Pirate - Bookshelf Edition

Dread Pirate – Bookshelf Edition

The Seal of Approval award-winning game that challenges players to rake in as much booty as possible while riding the high seas has been given a make-over. Now the game of dubloons and treasure hunting comes in its own box that is designed to reside neatly on your bookshelf, that is when you aren’t playing

Shut-The-Box

Shut-The-Box

Legend has it that the origins of Shut-The-Box can be traced to English Pubs. Curious that a game like this would be submitted to The National Parenting Center and even more so that it was met with such approval from our testers. The bottom line is that this is a pleasantly fun game that can

Go Mental

Go Mental

The most reliable test the about the potential for success when it comes to games is: Will you want to play this game over and over with friends and family? That often boils down to the game’s ability to engage everyone playing, even when it isn’t their turn. Go Mental is one of the best

Chicco Talking Farm

Chicco Talking Farm

The bright and colorful design of Chicco’s Talking Farm is only part of the appeal of this interactive playcenter. Loaded with touch points for your child to discover either on their own or when prompted by the very proper English accented gentleman, there are animals, numbers and loads of accompanying sounds to keep your child

Razzul

Razzul

Child-safe web environments aren’t new but rarely are they as much fun as Razzul. This subscription based system gives children a destination that is filled with places to explore (including pre-approved sites on the internet), play and interact with others. The bright and colorful city can be tailored for your child. It is all very

Puzzle Ups

Puzzle Ups

How about this for a first puzzle, one that builds up, not flat on a table. There are two benefits to this design, 1) kids love it when things get taller, and 2) you can move it and use it for decoration instead of breaking it apart for space on the dining room table. Parents

Magic Dancing Teletubbies

Magic Dancing Teletubbies

If your child is a fan of the teletubbies television show then they will love these dancing dolls. The British import is still entrancing television’s youngest demographic with its unique style. The dolls have tummies that light up in response to your child touch and their motorized dancing tickled the littlest children who would return

Cabbage Patch Kids

Cabbage Patch Kids

It’s been almost a generation since the Cabbage Patch sensation swept the country. The adoptable toddlers with the sweet faces and open arms are back and despite the obvious reminiscent appeal to their parents, kids seemed to be just as enamored with these pudgy cheeked pals. Like their predecessors, the dolls come with a complete

Fit N Fun Care Bears

Fit N Fun Care Bears

We all need to exercise more, we know it, our doctors know it and now apparently the Care Bears know it. This is a good thing because their appeal to the toddler set also helps to get the message out that exercise, even for the very young, is very good. These Care Bears have motorized

HOW IT WORKS

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor, and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:
