Growums is a wonderfully unique concept that marries the planting experience with a terrific website where animated plants with goofy character voices guide children through step by step lessons in […]

Digi-Piggy

Digi-Piggy

In Digi-Piggy the venerable piggy bank has evolved and our testers welcomed it into the new era. With every deposit the Digi-Piggy recognizes the coin and keeps a digital running total. We have seen digital coin counting machines but the fact that it uses the piggy design seemed to make it all that much more

Sponge Bob Alarm Clock

Sponge Bob Alarm Clock

The nearly universal appeal of Sponge Bob never seems to wane and he has certainly demonstrated some impressive staying power. This means that when products feature his Pants-ness kids gravitate to his bright yellow likeness no matter the form. This alarm clock excited testers who were thrilled to have a clock they could call their

Safe Eyes

SLAPlet

SLAPlet

One, two, three, SLAP! That was the sound of bracelets slapping on the wrists of our testers who gravitated to these like moths to a flame. Perhaps it is the variety of colors, or maybe its the removable links that allowed them to accessorize and personalize their SLAPlet, or maybe its just the cool effect

Summer Sparks Activity Cards

This innovative set of educational activity cards really impressed our parent testers as an innovative method for sparking a child’s interest in learning, even during the summer months. The cards offer parents an easy-to-prepare set of activities that touch on language arts, math, science and social studies. The cards, which reminded some of recipe cards

Washable Glow Chalk

Washable Glow Chalk

An inexpensive novelty item that has a relatively short shelf life but packs a punch with its glow in the dark qualities. Parents reported that anything that illuminates seems to have instant appeal for their children and this was no exception. You will have to time your chalk drawing to be done just before daylight

Washable Sidewalk Tattoos

Who knew that sidewalk chalk could be more than it already was Apparently the people at Crayola have spent some time on this and have designed a thoroughly innovative idea, sidewalk tattoos. These are a series of templates with outlines that once rubbed off onto pavement can then be colored in by your children. The

My Reading Tutor: Kindergarten to 2nd Grade

Parents and kids alike were exceptionally enthusiastic about this fun and educational game for the Nintendo DS system. Over and over again parents praised the methodology whereby wrong answers are just ways to learn. The “tutor” encourages and then asks if perhaps there is a better answer. Kids responded to this wonderfully, they really wanted

HOW IT WORKS

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor, and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:
