Scouts Build & Discover Tool Set

LeapFrog’s popular Scout character is back with more preschool aged fun in mind. This Build and Discover Tool Set appealed to little ones who were excited to be able to help Scout build a new dog house. The tools are the perfect size for their little hands and very sturdy. The color coordinated tools match […]

LeapPad Platinum

LeapPad Platinum

As sure as there is always going to be a new iPhone you can be sure that there will always be a new LeapPad to keep up with the constantly changing technological landscape. This new edition (what is going to come after platinum?) features a 7″ truly hi-resolution touchscreen and lots of the kind of

Word Whammer

Word Whammer

Word Whammer is a high-quality educational toy that is well designed and durable. The size of this product is great for the suggested age as the handles are easy to grab and manipulate. Parents liked the way LeapFrog designed the gameplay using active participation like spinning, tapping, and twisting the Word Whammer. There are many

Number Lovin Oven

We conducted an informal poll of various counting toys that our testers had come across and no one had ever seen a number teaching toy that utilizes an oven. That doesn’t mean it can’t work and in the hands of LeapFrog’s creative team, odds were it’d work out just fine. Voila! It did. The Number

Star Banks Adventure

Star Banks Adventure

How many apps have you seen that combine a game, finances, math and ethics? None that our testers could think of. The game is set in space, it pits good against evil, there is banking and counting and coins and an evil overlord whom you have to stop to win the game. The game teaches

Qixels Turbo Dryer

Qixels Turbo Dryer

Many parents who have introduced craft kits to their children have at one time or another come across a project that has them assembling an assortment of colored beads which then need to be ironed, glued, soaked or something labor intensive. The biggest problem we have heard over the years about those kits is that

Little Live Pets Lil Mouse House

The packaging of this Mouse House from Moose Toys drew testers to it like, well mice to cheese. Maybe that was what they intended! Adorable with bright colors, exciting descriptions of some of the features and the opportunity to see and touch the actual toy. But enough about the box, the fun really begins when

Glow Show Sticker Launcher

Many of us grew up with glow in the dark stickers of stars, planets and rockets on the ceiling of our bedrooms. They made bedtime more appealing and conjured up fantastic imagery as we drifted off to sleep. Glowing stars are still around and like many things they have an update, a really cool update!

Little Live Pets Lil Turtle Tank

Moose Toys seems to have cornered the market on real pet-alternative toys, producing a variety of not-quite-but-pretty-close mechanical replicas that only require batteries. There is no cleanup or feeding required. This pet turtle comes with its own water tank. As turtles are wont to do they moved rather slowly on land but as soon as

Ring It!

Ring It!

Ring It!, brought to us by the wildly inventive gang at Blue Orange, is a fun and silly family card game that delivers loads of laughs and smiles. Before even opening the game tin there was a heightened level of excitement and anticipation. Blue Orange has made packaging an art form and with the bell

HOW IT WORKS

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor, and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:
