Whiz Kid PC Learning System

This breakthrough interactive device from VTech thrilled our parent testers with its ability to completely enthrall children getting them excited to play and learn. Whether being played with on the go or while connected to the computer, where the internet delivers new content, there are so many ways for children to play that they were […]

Kidizoom Camera

Parents may have been more thrilled than their children to see a kid-safe camera hit the market. Who knows how many “real” cameras were sacrificed to the less-than secure hands of the younger set? Bringing point and shoot to a whole new generation, VTech really scored here as kids were super-enthusiastic from the moment they

The Origin of Expressions

The Origin of Expressions

What a wonderful idea for a game. Borrowed and reworked from one of the best party games ever, Dictionary, players are challenged to stump others with their creative writing and sales skills. Instead of trying to determine the meaning of impossibly obscure words, players are given the task of divining the origin of expressions such

Pirate Treasure & More

Pirate Treasure & More

Ahoy, Arghh and Shiver Me Timbers are not only popular phrases with pirates, they are also quite popular with children who love to imagine they are pirates on the high seas. How it came to be that bands of scraggly outlaws might capture the imagination of young children isn’t up for debate, it just is.

A great stocking stuffer for kids with iPods because this unit hooks up easily to the popular Apple device allowing users to play along and even alter their favorite music. Extremely fun and extremely engaging are among the best descriptions a new board game can garner from testers and that’s what Dragonology achieved. This is a rather involved game with a premise that requires rather lengthy directions. Despite that aspect, which has sunk other games, the rules were quite easy to follow and game play

Smart Girls Playhouse

Smart Girls Playhouse

We love seeing little girls derive fun and pleasure from video games. Not that they can’t or don’t, or that they need video games in their lives, but it is rare to see games that hold their interest, and parents certainly took notice. This DS cartridge features a variety of very easy to learn mini-games

Robopanda

Robopanda

The Wowwee engineers have turned their considerable talents into creating a softer version of their previous robotic toys and the result as a positively adorable panda. Robopanda delighted our testers with its sweet voice, infectious charisma and heightened interactive functionality. There are touch, light and sound sensors on just about every inch of this robot

Braintastic! Word Skills

What makes and educational software title really stand out is its ability to engage its audience and keep them plugging away, even while they are learning. Edalive has achieved that goal with Braintastic! Word Skills, a multi-level word-building title that our testers described as “inviting” and “encouraging”, “interesting” and “exciting”. These are adjectives not normally

BreathableBaby Blanket

BreathableBaby Blanket

This wonderful new blanket impressed our testers with it’s lightweight, breathable design that keeps baby warm and easily washes clean. It’s size allows for taking along on outings. As with all BreathableBaby items, the emphasis is on safety and parents appreciated the extra lengths the company went to not only in the design but the

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:
