Prior to testing this mattress several testers asked, “Does it really matter if mattresses (or bed sheets for that matter) are organic? Does it make a difference?” Reasonable questions in this age of organic sensitivity. Well, the results are in and apparently it does matter. After sleeping on both the Naturepedic and regular crib mattresses for several nights, the Naturepedic emerged as being more comfortable and superior to the others. Parents told us that they felt a tinge of guilt for purchasing other non-organic mattresses in the past. The fact is that our babies spend a lot of time sleeping in the crib, so why aren’t we putting the same focus on what they lie on 70+ hours a week as we do on what they eat? Almost every household today is making the effort to try and eat organic; it’s time to bring those beliefs to bed with us. There are certainly cheaper, less environmentally-friendly mattresses on the market but our testers were of the opinion that there’s a reason behind the higher price, most of the time it’s quality which this mattress has in spades.
