Phlat Ball Jr.

Phlat Ball Jr.

The Phlat Ball Jr. is a morphing toy that switches easily from ball to flying disk and back again. You may be asking, “Why would I want to do that?” which would be a perfectly reasonable query. Our testers did the same. But they saw the benefits first hand and found them to be quite […]

Air Hogs Havoc Heli Laser Battle

One of the most eagerly anticipated toys of the testing period, this next generation of Air Hogs really had high expectations attached to it. After all, the Havoc Heli was already a crowd favorite and adding the ability to do battle with a second Heli was more than just icing on the cake. As with

Port of LEGO City

Port of LEGO City

There is serious work going on down at the docks, with large cargo ships bringing in all kinds of goods down the river or across the ocean. With this shipping port play set your kids will eagerly load and unload crates of whatever their hearts desire. Testers told us that they enjoyed eavesdropping and hearing

Q-BA-MAZE

Q-BA-MAZE

The Q-Ba-Maze bowled over our testers with its super cool design and wonderfully written and illustrated instructions. In no time both parents and children were making mazes into which they dropped their marbles over and over again. Parents told us that the loved watching their children working out creative patterns to build. The simple clarity

Princesa Quinceanera

Princesa Quinceanera

People familiar with the Quinceanera, a celebration of a Latin girl’s 15th birthday and a recognition of her journey from childhood to maturity, will really appreciate the special design and beauty of this doll. As young girls look forward to their own special day, this doll will take on added importance. Parents were impressed with

Wrist Racer

Wrist Racer

There is something decidedly James Bond about controlling a car remotely from a device on your wrist. Perhaps it was that quality that snagged high scored from our testers, or it might have been that remote control vehicles that are as fun to drive as these are. Then again maybe it was the pricing, as

Little Tikes Build N Learn Workshop

Even though Tim Allen’s Home Improvement is no longer on the air it doesn’t mean that men (even very young ones) don’t love their tools. It’s lucky for them that MGA and Little Tikes do too because whether youre fixin’ to tune up your engine or saw and drill some wood, you can do it

Sesame Street Elmos Shape Search

Elmo’s universal appeal among the preschool set is undeniable. This interactive electronic toy gives children what they want, a chance to interact with Elmo. Parents were more impressed with the educational value and the price. Older children were more apt to utilize all of the various functions available on the unit, while younger children were

Air Blox

Air Blox

Throughout all of the reviews submitted to us by testers of Air Blox there was one common thought: Ingenious. By pumping air into the various “block” segments, children begin the process of building their own special habitats. The bright colors and ease with which the included foot pump aided in inflating the parts made this

Barbie B-Smart Learning Laptop

Oregon Scientific went back to the drawing board for this newest incarnation of the learning laptop and the results really impressed our testers. It is chock full of so many fun and educational games and activities that girls simply could not get enough playtime with Barbie. This is not a laptop and the days of

HOW IT WORKS

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor, and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:
