Soccer Match

Soccer Match

Demonstrating their decidedly European roots Playmobil has created a superb soccer game that carries the World Cup brand. You and your child will enjoy building the large soccer pitch using the well illustrated instruction booklet. Once built then the real fun begins as you play with the wonderfully detailed soccer player pieces and trying to […]

My Take-Along Farm

Think of Playmobil’s Take-Along Farm as a barn in a box. Everything is there for great imaginative play. You’ll find two farmers along with the tools of their trade like rakes and hoes. There are horses and bunnies that need to be tended to and fed with hay and lettuce. Parents felt that the set

RipStik

RipStik

Ripstik describes their new ride-on board as the next generation of the venerable and extremely popular skateboard. Our testers concur. Designed to appeal to a very specific market, the eye-catching shape and colors were off the charts. The ride itself requires some new skills, but none that are so challenging as to be impossible to

Terri Lee Pajama Party

Terri Lee Pajama Party

This classically beautiful children’s doll really impressed our testers. They told us about the attachment their little girls formed. They explained how strong the bond was and how it occurred almost immediately. From brushing her hair and teeth to cuddling up with her in bed, Terri Lee connected on all levels. Parents believed that the

Head Bangers

Head Bangers

The game is on the line, the fans are on their feet, all eyes are on the kicker as his legs swings back and strikes the ball. Up it goes, soaring towards the uprights…. You don’t have to be a football fan to know the excitement that that moment brings and now your child can

Felt Tales

Felt Tales

The timeless appeal of dinosaurs was evident as testers discovered Felt Tales and watched their children’s imaginations take flight. So many dinosaurs came spilling out of the plastic carrying case that at first it was overwhelming. Then, as children discovered the fun of creating scenarios where their dinosaurs roam and interact with each other, the

XPV

XPV

Remotely controlled flying toys often rely on the first step which is the launch, which a) requires another person and b) is often harder than it looks. Not to get too algebraic here, but XPV takes A and B out of the equation and the result is a marked increase in the fun factor. Seriously,

Black & Decker Jr. Power Tools Workshop

Black & Decker Jr. Power Tools Workshop

Testers were split on whether the best feature of this toy was that it was so easy to put together or that maybe that everything looked so real or perhaps it was the fact that their children absolutely loved it. Excellent for the development of fine motor skills and problem solving, toddlers spent hours “toiling”

Tamogotchi Connection

Tamogotchi Connection

There is a lot to like about this new generation of Tamagotchi’s. To begin with is it’s size. This new incarnation can easily fit inside a pocket, can be played alone or, when used with the infrared signal, can be played with a friend interactively. The lessons of taking care of your pet are still

Superman Laptop Advanced

Superman Laptop Advanced

We know that kids love to emulate their parents and that grown-up gadgets like cell phones and laptops are a source of great appeal and frustration since they are not old enough to have their own. Perhaps that is why this bright and colorful laptop shaped game was so appealing to our younger testers. The

HOW IT WORKS

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor, and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:
