Dareway
Remember when the Segway was going to change the world? That might not have come to pass but now that Famosa has created a kid-sized version of upright transportation, using a foot pedal and buttons instead of kinetic movement, the segment might have some new life. The foot pedal controls the forward motion, while buttons on the handles let your child turn and execute some tight spins. You can even go backward when you press both buttons at once. The maximum speed is just 3.7 mph so no need to worry about kids zooming off. The Dareway is quite steady, sturdy and balanced. Traction from the plastic tires is a drawback, you will have to find a surface that the hard wheels can grip. Testers said that they hoped that Famosa would opt for rubber tires soon. The thing we heard most from testers was that no one had seen anything like this in the toy aisle. Both parents and kids were excited about being the first on the block to cruise up to the neighbor’s house in their Dareway.
