As brain teasers go, the Rainbow Flipstir Puzzle found the perfect middle ground – simple, yet challenging enough to engage without being too frustrating. The puzzle requires focus and a steady hand to complete since the pieces are encased in a clear plastic cylinder that is sealed shut. The only way to touch and manipulate the pieces is with an L-shaped tip wand that is lodged in the cylinder and extends outward. The L-shaped tip is ingenious, as it allows the user to flip, slide, and position the pieces within the small space available. Unlike other puzzles, solving and completing it will not give you a greater advantage the next time it’s attempted. Each time you are actually starting from scratch. Continuous play will, however, allow you to become more capable with the wand. Testers of all ages enjoyed playing with it alone, as well as against others in a race to see who can solve it fastest. Parents loved it’s portability and the fact that there are no pieces to lose.
