Fruit and Vegetable Shapesorters
This tactile game set teaches the concept of fruits and vegetables using a hands-on experience. The base pieces are the shapes of a tree and a tomato, the smaller pieces are various fruits and vegetables to be sorted into the two categories. All pieces are made of a combination of durable velvety material and a shiny foam. Both very soft, flexible and sized just right for little hands. In addition to learning the differences between fruits and vegetables, toddlers are practicing the skill of matching shapes. Testers noted that it is trickier than it sounds as a few of the pieces have pretty similar shapes. A unique feature, not seen on similar toys of the genre, is that both the corn and carrot were each made up of two pieces, the main part of the vegetable and the green leaf or silk. This prompted conversations about how these different vegetables grow, one below the ground and one above, etc. Testers told us that the vivid colors were exceptionally appealing to their young children.
