Gator Capers

Unique, educational, entertaining and wryly humorous, parents were delighted to discover this brand new subscription-based service from MCXI. Based around a fun geographical challenge, Gator Capers introduces world travelers Na V. Gator and Invez T. Gator (get it?) who travel around the world visiting a different country every month. Every week, she sends a personalized postcard to children, filled with clues for them to guess her location. The puzzles and clues include word searches, scramble words, crosswords, etc. This is a marvelous vehicle for helping children learn geography and facts about different countries, all while decoding clues, doing math, and practicing spelling. What they glean about the world is priceless. Parents viewed the $10/month subscription as a terrific investment in getting their child excited about the world and playing sleuth. There are also other, more subtle lessons to be learned from the service. Since kids cant have the next clue right away, they must learn to demonstrate patience, something that is in short supply with kids these days. It’s wonderful seeing their self-confidence grow as they solve the clues and deduce the answers. Plus, children absolutely love receiving mail. Each month is accompanied by a nice fact sheet about the visited country, which includes a craft and a recipe from the specific culture. This is such a great original idea to give to your children or to give as a gift to a niece or nephew living far away. This enriching experience will stay with them forever as it expands their knowledge and abilities.

HOW IT WORKS

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:

Each submission must be accompanied by a $295 product testing fee (we offer multiple submission discounts). This fee covers the cost of testing, nothing more. It is non-refundable and has no bearing on the result of the testing. Additionally, we require three samples of the product or access codes for online submissions.
