KEVA Stunt Derby
Anyone remember Pinewood Derby? Anyone? [Crickets.] Well, MindWare obviously does and they have brought it back to life. But instead of just building a car to race, now you build it to crash into things. Everything you need is included, the parts of the car which your child can build and then customize (with decals, paints, etc.) and an assortment of light yet sturdy planks of wood. From the moment you open the box the race is on to build your car so it can start knocking stuff down. Then there is a course mat that you lay out to guide your child through the “tower” construction. Kids built towers, bridges and more and then put their stunt car into the launcher, pull back the rubber band and let ‘er fly! As you might imagine kids loved watching their car demolish the structures; but the aim is to collect as many points as possible with an accurate crash. This toy set flies in the face of current technology trends in toys; parents appreciated the way it brought back the “work with your hands” concept and the creativity and strategy required. Let the demolition competitions begin!
