LeapPad Ultra
When it comes to tablet technology its hard to keep up with the latest releases, features and abilities of each new entry into the marketplace. Our testers were so thrilled to be able to have some hands on time with the latest version of the LeapPad, the “Ultra.” The first thing that jumps out is the gorgeous 1,024 by 600 color display. Both the size and resolution are big upgrades from the last version and Seal winner, LeapPad 2. The apps are vivid and bright and, to the delight of children, they really jump off the screen. The fact that the Ultra can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi is both amazing and of some concern to parents. LeapFrog anticipated the anxiety and gives us “Web-safe Wi-Fi.” This is LeapFrog’s own browser and it only gives access to age-appropriate videos, images, and sites. Having the Wi-Fi feature makes it easy for parents to connect to Leap Connect to download new apps. This is such an exciting time as technology becomes more and more accessible and user friendly. As always, LeapFrog seems to be leading the charge and our testers are happy to follow.
