Science4Us
Science4Us is a wonderful way to provide science curriculum in the homeschool setting. There is a blend of both interactive online activities, as well offline activities. Offline, there are lesson plans and activities provided for a non-virtual experience, which provides variety for those students who primarily learn from home and seated at the computer. In the online format, there is an amazing wealth of content available, all categorized by scientific principles. The interactive interfaces help children develop skills related to typing, drawing tools, and more. Stories and songs are also incorporated, which appeal to different styles of learning. Science4Us also makes connections to other educational subjects, language arts in particular. These connections include comprehending stories to gain information, breaking complicated words down by syllables, alphabetizing, making word associations, and using a glossary. Each section has an Engage module an Explore module and an Explain module. In Engage, it shows real-life connections thus setting up the lesson. The Explore module allows for experimentation. The Explain module is where the real “teaching” happens, using real pictures and videos to enhance the explanation. Finally, in the Test section, you can test out different outcomes based on the scientific principle. Testers were impressed with what they saw and believed this would be a great asset to any home school family or to a student who could use extra science practice.
