Crayola Emoji Maker

Crayola has found a way to take emojis off the screen and put them in the hands of creative children who want to make their own emoji markers. The result is both appealing and eye-catching. Parents felt that the quality of the stamps was a standout here. The directions were very clear and easy to […]

Crayola Jewel Maker

If you have a child who loves arts and crafts and is into jewelry, this product is definitely for them. Fun, easy, not overly messy, the Jewel Maker comes with everything you need to make necklaces, bracelets, etc. in 3 easy steps. Parents liked finding a technology free experience and this is just that, good

Crayola Color Spinout

Parents and children agreed that Color Spinout was a whole lot of fun, and for parents, there was the additional element of nostalgia. Of course things do change over time, but in this instance the feeling was that the change was all for the better. The bright vibrant colors from the included markers really jump

Big Adventure at the Water Hole

Big Adventure at the Water Hole

Schleich has created one of the most stunningly designed toys we have ever seen. The details that went into creating each animal, plant, surface, and crevice just blew away testers and staff. Looking at the box just about every tester was sure that they would have to add water (they weren’t thrilled) but when they

Fancy Baby Grand

Fancy Baby Grand

While Schoenhut has a variety of first instruments in its product line, pianos are where they began and pianos are still where they excel. The Fancy Baby Grand Piano is a perfect example of their expertise in the category. Great for kids 3 and up, it is a great transition between the very young toddler

Madeline

Madeline

Parents told us that anyone would feel comforted snuggling up to a Lyla Tov Monster. First, because she is so adorable and soft and second because (thanks to the hangtag that gives the backstory) she helps protect children from scary things at night. There is one more great backstory here, Madeline was created by a

Shopkins Chef Club Hot Spot Kitchen

It’s pretty hard to walk into a toy store and not run into Shopkins, which is why the brand was an instant magnet for young testers. These tiny plastic figures each come with a personality all of their own. The Hot Spot Kitchen comes with Chocolate Cake Jake and Valentina Vanilla Cake. The kitchen comes

Happy Places Happy Home

The Shopkins craze is now showing signs of slowing down, so it was no surprise that it worked like a magnet for little girls in our testers centers. With its large picture of the house and see-through window that shows you exactly what youre getting inside, the package is so fun and inviting. Happy Places

Little Live Pets Puppy

The initial reaction from parents to Little Live Pets Puppy caught us a little off guard. Not enthusiastic would be putting it mildly. When we probed further we learned that this came from thinking that it was just another overpriced, wannabe lifelike animal toy with a one hour shelf life. That was all shattered quickly.

Green Melody All Mineral Fruit & Veggie Wash

Green Melody All Mineral Fruit & Veggie Wash

It might seem over the top to say that our testers were thrilled, excited, blown-away and even giddy about a product that washes veggies, but that’s exactly what happened. Many of our parent testers told us they will only buy organic fruits and veggies, so they didn’t think they needed a product like this. Then

HOW IT WORKS

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor, and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:
