Smithsonian Wave Machine
The Smithsonian Wave Machine is a unique, relaxing and mesmerizing product. Sure there is educational value and some scientific learning about the nature of waves, but in reality, it’s an “Ooooo” visual toy for teens and grown-ups. The packaging is very appealing, and the picture on the front of the package is exactly what it ends up looking like when assembled. Set up is very easy and done in just a couple of minutes. Just a snap of one piece to the stand and inserting batteries is all it takes. We must address the battery issue. It uses C batteries, maybe the least used battery these days, so chances are you are going to have to buy one. No check that, you’ll need to buy several because this thing chews through batteries like potato chips, it can’t eat just one. Parents lamented the fact that there is no AC adapter. The accompanying poster that comes with it has some fun facts about waves and ocean tides. For those not familiar with waves and tides this provides a decent start for how those things work.
