No matter how much we try to protect our little ones there comes a time when we have to take them outside of the protective home environment and into the hustle, bustle, and noise of the real world. Depending on the level of that noise, significant damage to sensitive and still-developing eardrums is possible. Sure, we didn’t have these when we were growing up, but that is no reason to ignore the proven cases of diminished hearing capacity. Lucid Audio’s HearMuffs Sounds offers active noise cancellation similar to what many people are wearing on planes these days. The high-quality ear protection these provide is impressive, plus they give the option for playing soothing sounds to counteract further the noises found just about everywhere. The Sounds mode has four settings – lullaby, white noise, creek and heartbeat, which is great for newborns or infants. The on/off switch and volume control dials are easy to use. It lights up green when powered on, this is a helpful battery saving feature for parents. Testers felt these would be great for life in the city, at an air show, a sporting event or concert. These headphones are also super light which makes carrying them around in a diaper bag or purse very easy. They have a simple and clean look, and the headband is adjustable for a wide range of ages depending on the size of the child’s head. According to our testers, this might just be the next “must-have” electronic item in baby gear.

HOW IT WORKS

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:

Each submission must be accompanied by a $295 product testing fee (we offer multiple submission discounts). This fee covers the cost of testing, nothing more. It is non-refundable and has no bearing on the result of the testing. Additionally, we require three samples of the product or access codes for online submissions.
