Reading Eggs Junior

The creators of Reading Eggs understand the fact that young children are naturally drawn to “screen time” so they built an educational program that uses that attraction to teach. What parents loved about Reading Eggs Junior is that it is perfect for getting preschool-aged kids interested in stories, songs and sounds using bright colors, fun themes, familiar animals and yes…technology. Their methods intrigue and challenge preschool-aged children while also being basic enough that they can navigate and play by themselves without getting frustrated because there is absolutely no pressure. In fact for kids it doesn’t seem as though they are learning, instead they are happily listening to stories, watching videos and finding out about different letters, numbers and even countries of the world. A note about the videos since we all know that preschool-aged kids love videos. They are short, very short. This is great because in most cases a video that lasts just a few minutes is often more effective and educational than a 30-minute episode on TV. The content engages the age group with light subjects like bubbles and birds, or practical ones like a visit to the hospital. Our testers told us that they turned to Reading eggs when on the go waiting in lines, doctors’ offices and on car trips. Finally, a brilliant feature is that kids cannot navigate away from Reading Eggs without you entering a code. No more turning away for a few minutes and coming back only to see kids surfing who knows what.

HOW IT WORKS

A Seal of Approval review involves a multi-step process conducted over an eight-week period.

Parents and children, experience and review submitted products and services either already released or coming to market.

Participants fill out questionnaires for each product or service they test. They score based on 13 levels of criteria including quality, appeal, design, price, packaging, directions, desirability, stimulation, replay factor and more. Results are based on both statistical averaging and comments received by testers.

There are three testing periods each year:

Each submission must be accompanied by a $295 product testing fee (we offer multiple submission discounts). This fee covers the cost of testing, nothing more. It is non-refundable and has no bearing on the result of the testing. Additionally, we require three samples of the product or access codes for online submissions.
