Tiggly Safari
Having children physically interact with apps on the iPad using physical objects is both novel and exciting. With Tiggly Safari children are given four shaped objects with magical properties. Or at least that’s how our testers saw them. When prompted, children grab one of four colorful, plastic shapes (circles, squares, triangles and stars) and place them on a target on the screen. Based on the shape, Tiggly then begins to draw different animals like cows, turkeys, lions, owls, etc. This all elicited plenty of giggles and delighted responses from children who unknowingly were developing and improving their hand-eye coordination. There are different levels included with the app. The first level is basic shape matching. As the levels go up, it becomes more challenging and the child gets to create more complex animals with different combinations of shapes. Parents felt that this app was excellent at working motor skills, language development and spatial thinking.
